This one-day workshop for teachers of Chinese will provide information about best practices, teaching about culture, assessment, materials, and more. Teachers of Chinese as a foreign language from K-12 schools, heritage schools and programs, and institutions of higher education are welcome to attend. The workshop is free, though participant registration is required. Breaks and lunch will also be provided.
9:00 – 9:30 AM: check in
9:30 AM – 10:30 AM: Keynote Address by Dr. Xiaoshi Li, Professor of Chinese language at Michigan State University
10:30 AM – 10:45 AM: Break
10:45 AM – noon: Sharing session #1: “My best day in Chinese class”
Noon – 1:30 PM: lunch
1:30 PM – 2:30 PM: Keynote by Dr. Agnes Weiyun He, Professor and director of Chinese language program at (SUNY) Stony Brook
2:30 PM – 2:45 PM: Break
2:45 PM – 4:00 PM: Sharing session #2: Best practices and assessment
4:00 – 4:30 PM: Wrap up and workshop evaluation
